With good looking, reasonably priced frames available in the discount stores, we believe that something called ‘custom’ better be unique in design as well as superior in materials and construction. That’s why we spend more time in the design process – matching mats and molding to enhance each piece.
We enjoy using details like ‘fillets’ (small frames within the frame) to highlight the image. But there is more to ‘custom’ framing than that. At Bill Shores Frames & Gallery we also carry on a tradition of serving the ‘customer’ that is hard to find. It’s the reason why, in a growing and competitive market, this frame shop has outlasted the rest.
We maintain detailed records of everything we frame, so that when you need another one ‘just like the last one’, we can produce it. We put back special moldings for special people, so we can duplicate this year’s award framing when they win again next year. For our numerous downtown business clients, we establish and maintain a workflow for their routine framing needs. There is no need for involved instruction – we simply produce the work and bill them for it at the end of the month.
Display and Shadow Box Framing
Who doesn’t have boxes and drawers full of mementos? Sports medals and ribbons . . political buttons . .coins . .stamps . .special event tickets . .musical instruments . .unique tools . . jerseys . . christening gowns . . even a wedding gown! They are the memories you run across while looking for something else, but there is no reason to keep them hidden.
Let us help you arrange and frame your mementos for display on the wall or tabletop. We are careful to use appropriate materials and methods to preserve your objects so you can enjoy them now and pass them on as heirlooms for future generations.
Conservation Framing
Actually, ALL framing is ‘conservation framing’ in that objects are put under glass or given a frame to help protect and preserve them. This phrase, however, is used to describe an approach to framing that utilizes specific materials and methods to protect valuable works of original art, rare/antique documents, items of historical importance and certain photographs requiring a low alkaline environment. Special grades of mat board and glass have been developed and recommended for framing these items.
There are somewhat lesser grades of materials used for fine art/limited edition prints, heirloom needle art and other valuable documents or photographs, etc., but most mat boards, tapes and other supplies used these days are 100% acid-free. This means that even your least valuable framed objects are much better protected now than they were twenty years ago. And you won’t find cardboard in the back of your frame if the work has been done by a conservation conscious frame shop.
